Origami Tessellation: Inertial Dampeners
This is an original tessellation from back in the beginning of September that I never posted. I don't recall too much about it anymore. Too many tessellations and only one brain.
It's a simpler twist based design. It starts with open back hexagons and then I believe there are rhombus twists tucked into them. Then I add some triangle twists before repeating the pattern.
Some open back triangle twists fill in the gaps on the other side.
I couldn't find a photo of my crease pattern. Probably forgot to take a pic. I will look for the original model to unfold and grab one from it sometime soon, hopefully.
I've just been doing so many tessellations lately that I've often been neglecting to document the diagrams. But I will try to remember to capture this one and add it. I know how frustrating it can be to see a design and want to fold it and you're not sure how.
While it can be fun to try to figure them out by reverse engineering, it can also be quite difficult when you don't know the creator's thought process. Although, this one in particular looks like it wouldn't be all that hard to decipher, if you're up for it. Still, I will try to upload the crease pattern very soon.
This is an intermediate level origami tessellation. It's composed of simple twists that can be executed easily on any kind of paper.
